Effective date: September 25, 2026
Nexus Tax Filing (“Nexus,” “we,” “us”) provides U.S. tax preparation and related services through nexustaxfiling.com and our client portal. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. Tax return information is treated as confidential and is used only as allowed by law, including Internal Revenue Code Section 7216 and related regulations.

Information you give us
- Identity and contact details: name, email, phone, mailing address, date of birth, citizenship, and marital status.

- Tax information: filing year, filing status, Social Security numbers or ITINs, spouse information, and other data needed to prepare a return.
- Bank details for refunds or payments (bank name, routing number, account number, and account type).
- Documents you upload (W-2s, 1099s, identification, and supporting PDFs or images).
- Messages you send through contact or inquiry forms.
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser type, IP address, pages visited, and referring URL.
- Cookies or similar storage used to keep you signed in and remember session settings. The portal may also store account and file data in your browser until cloud storage is enabled.
2. How we use information
- Create and administer your client account.
- Prepare, review, e-file, and support your tax returns.
- Contact you about your engagement, missing documents, or refund status.
- Process payments you authorize.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use tax return information for marketing unless you give a separate, legally required consent.
3. How we share information
We share information only when needed to provide services or when the law requires it:
- The Internal Revenue Service, state tax agencies, and authorized e-file transmitters.
- Service providers that host our website, email, file storage, or payment processing, under confidentiality obligations.
- Professional advisors (for example, attorneys or IT security) bound to keep information confidential.
- A successor if our practice is transferred, with the same privacy commitments.
- Authorities when required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.
4. Tax return confidentiality
Federal law strictly limits use and disclosure of tax return information. Our tax professionals and staff may use your return information to prepare and file your returns and to provide the tax services you request. Other uses or disclosures require your consent except where the law already allows them.
5. Retention
We keep tax files for as long as needed to complete your engagement and to meet recordkeeping rules (typically at least three to seven years, and longer if a dispute, audit, or legal hold applies). Portal accounts and uploaded files remain until you ask us to delete them or we close the account, subject to those legal retention duties.
6. Security
We use access controls, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and limited staff access to protect client data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please use a unique password and do not share your portal login.
7. Your choices
- You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold, subject to tax record laws.
- You may close your portal account by emailing us.
- You may opt out of non-essential marketing emails using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.
- California and other state residents may have additional rights to know, delete, or opt out of certain sharing. We do not sell personal information.
8. Children
The website and portal are intended for adults who need tax services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Dependent information is collected only from the taxpayer or authorized parent/guardian as part of a tax engagement.
